Entra ID integration

Your Entra ID directory, now a live device inventory

Import your Entra-registered devices and your people in a couple of clicks — no Intune required — then hand gear to staff straight away, before anyone logs in. Read-only by default: nothing is written back to your tenant unless you turn it on.

Import devices and people — Intune optional

Most inventory tools lean on Intune. Monkey Assets reads Entra ID directly, so your devices and your staff come in even if you've never enrolled a thing.

  • Entra-registered devices Any device that checks in to Entra ID can import — you don't need Intune for it to appear.
  • Intune too, if you have it Already managing endpoints with Intune? Pull those devices in through the same flow.
  • People from the directory Bring staff in straight from Entra so you're assigning gear to a real person, not a name you retyped.
  • Tick exactly who comes in Pick devices and people from a checklist — import the ones you want and skip the rest.

Assign gear now — don't wait for a login

A new laptop shouldn't sit unassigned until its owner signs in somewhere. Once a person and a device are in, you can pair them the moment the box is opened.

  • No login required Assign a device to a staff member as soon as it lands — there's no waiting on a first sign-in.
  • A QR tag on creation A permanent QR tag is minted the moment the asset exists — print it on a Brother QL roll or an A4 sheet.
  • Full history on a scan Scan the tag with any phone camera to see who holds it, its serial and its whole history.
  • Handover with a paper trail Transfer a device with a signed agreement and an audit log of who did what, and when.

Sign in with Microsoft — your MFA already counts

Your team signs in with the Microsoft account they already have. No new password to issue, and no second factor to bolt on if your tenant already runs one.

  • Entra SSO Everyone logs in with their Microsoft account — nothing extra for you to provision or reset.
  • Your MFA is our MFA If your tenant enforces MFA, that's your two-factor here too — nothing new to roll out.
  • Gate handover on sign-in Optionally require a Conditional Access group before a device can be signed into on handover.
  • Roles and per-site purview Give multi-site teams and MSPs a view of only their own gear, with roles that fit who does what.

Read-only by default — you decide what syncs

Connecting your tenant shouldn't feel risky. The import only reads, and anything that could change Entra is a separate switch you flip yourself.

  • Strictly read-only Import reads your devices and people and writes nothing back to your tenant.
  • Opt in, feature by feature Nothing touches Entra unless you enable a feature that spells out what it does first.
  • Optional daily sync Switch on a daily sync to keep the inventory current as devices and staff change in the directory.
  • Disabled in Entra, disabled here When an account is disabled in Entra, the sync can deactivate that person's access here too.

Common questions

Do I need Intune to import my devices?

No. Entra-registered devices import on their own — if a device checks in to Entra ID, it can come into your inventory without any Intune enrolment. If you do run Intune, those devices import through the same flow.

Does connecting my tenant change anything in Entra ID?

No. The import is strictly read-only — it reads devices and people and writes nothing back. Anything that could write to Entra is a separate feature you switch on yourself, and it tells you what it does before it does it.

Can I assign a device before the person logs in?

Yes. Once the device and the staff member are imported, you can pair them the moment the device arrives — there's no waiting on a first sign-in. Sign-in only comes into it if you choose to gate handover on a Conditional Access group.

How do sign-in and MFA work?

Your team signs in with their Microsoft account through Entra SSO, so there's no separate password to manage. If your tenant already enforces MFA, that counts as your two-factor here — there's nothing extra to set up.

What happens when someone leaves?

Turn on the optional daily sync and, when an account is disabled in Entra, that person's access here is deactivated too. The assets they held stay on record with their full history, so nothing quietly goes missing.
