Common questions

Do I need an asset register if I already have Intune?

If you only need to know that devices are enrolled, patched and compliant, Intune has you covered. But the moment you need to know who owns a device, who held it before, or track gear Intune doesn't manage, you need a register alongside it. Monkey Assets imports your Intune devices and adds that ownership, labelling and audit layer on top.

Can I export my device inventory from Intune into Monkey Assets?

Yes. Connect your Microsoft 365 tenant and Monkey Assets imports your managed devices — serial, model, OS and owner — with no CSV export or manual entry. If a device isn't in Intune but is registered in Entra, it imports too, so you capture the whole fleet.

Is Monkey Assets an Intune alternative or replacement?

No — it's a companion, not a replacement. Intune stays your device manager for enrolment, policy and security; Monkey Assets is the asset register that sits around it. Keep both, and each does the job it's good at.

How do I track monitors, docks and gear Intune doesn't manage?

Anything that isn't an MDM-enrolled device — monitors, docks, printers, unmanaged phones, even furniture — you add directly. Snap a photo and AI reads the make, model and serial to fill in the form, or type it in, and each asset gets its own permanent QR tag. Now your managed and unmanaged gear live in one register.

Does importing from Intune change anything in my tenant?

No. Importing is strictly read-only, and Monkey Assets never writes anything back to Microsoft unless you deliberately switch on a feature that asks for it, such as gating device sign-in on handover. You stay in control of what, if anything, flows the other way.
